ISCSI server(ISCSI storage) we can use as kind of shared storage.When I’m doing the testing of clustering most of the time im using iscsi software.Earlier we could use thirdparty softwares like starwind.but now we can use windows 2012 server as our iscsi server.its working perfectly.Now well see how to configure iscsi server on our server 2012.
Open server manager and select add roels
From File and iscsi serverices select ISCSI target server and ISCSI target storage provider
Now we have finished the adding requred server role.now we can do the configurtion.Open server maanger select fiel and storage servcies
Select the server name
Click on iscsi
click on tasks menu from right upper corner
Now we can create iscsi virtual disk using interna disk.
We can give the name,here im goinit to use disk with sql clusters quorum disk.
Since we dont have any existing iscsi target, we have to select new iscsi target
Give the name
From this window we can specify which servers can access this iscsi disk over the network.here i have added my sql servers ip address.but it can be domain computer account ,dns name and few more options.
If we want we can use chat protocol for authentication.(its password based authentication)
Now we are finished from the specif server we can access the created iscsi disk using iscsi initiator.
